For many of us a great suit is the pride and joy of our wardrobe, and nothing will make you stand out more than a bespoke suit (Not to be confused with a mere tailored suit). Whats the difference? Well a tailored suit is a made-to-measure item is a standard one customized at the factory in certain measurements and details. Were as a bespoke suit is custom-made, it is not made to measure, which is more commonly found on department store shelves. The business was originally based on catering for the needs of the British Army and the Royal Navy, and hence by association the British Royal family. After coming to London in 1760, Thomas Hawkes, one of the founder of the fashion house, set up his first shop in 1771 in Brewer Street. Catering for gentlemen, his main clients were commanders of the British Army, through which King George III became a customer.
