The sequel the the disastrous X-Men Origins : Wolverine ,The Wolverine has the odds stacked against it from the start, and with a more serious take on the “Super Hero” film genre this film can make or break the franchise. (Along with any plans for any future films.) That being said a lot of Wolverine fans will be very wary of seeing this film, but unlike the last one the studio stated this one would be better than the pervious film. From the opening seen it is reminiscent of the first five minutes of the pervious film, with a flashback to a memory of Logan in a person camp during World War II. Fourth seconds in we see the dropping of the bomb on Nagasaki. It is at this moment we see Logan save his captor who will send for him in the future (as shown in the films trailer), and you see as the flames rush down the well they run to seek shelter. It is in this moment that immediately we see as Wolverine is burnt from the flames that this time around Fox studios have put more into the graphics of the film. Much like the new Marvel films it is also apparent that they have put a lot more into the script with a much better character development, and more action sequences that are reminiscent of the first three Bourne films, then a super hero film of old. At first the plot seems basic, but as the story develops we find Wolverine is haunted with nightmares of the love of his life Jean Grey all the while he longs to be with her. Unfortunately he feels he can’t be with her as he is unable to die. This is when the man he saved during WWII finds him,and offers him a way out. From the moment Logan steps on Japanese soil he begins to want more out of life, and as he loses his mutant healing factor he is forced to live life as a human. Everything from getting tired to dressing a wound us all new to him. This helps you escape the world if the X-Men,and see him as a man struggling to find his place in the world. The writing, and acting in a Fox super hero movie is truly sound, and the script is and the level of Marvel’s other recent films. Although the Sliver Samurai as a giant robot is a strive away from the original comic storyline, the battle with Wolverine is what will have all the Wolverine fans talking.

Pros:

Cons:

Verdict: If you are a Wolverine fan you might not like the final twenty minutes of the film, but other than the final fight scene it more than makes up for its awful predecessor. Worth seeing at least once.
