Captain America: The Winter Soldier | Review

One of the most anticipated films of the year “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is the first film this year from Marvel. The film takes place much like Iron Man 3 in which Steve Rogers is living in the post “Avengers“ world, but unlike Tony Stark, Rogers is trying to find his way in a world that is 70 years more advanced than he is. From the moment the film opens it is immediate that the Captain America from the first film fans grew to love was gone. Enter the new stealth Steve Rogers, with a new suit it seems Captain America’s fighting skills have improved with epic M.M.A. style results. He nearly single-handed takes down a ship of enemy’s. We also see for the first time the new S.H.E.I.L.D. team that travels on him “Strike Force”, an elite team of special forces operatives that are comprised of the best the army has to offer.

Who are as effective as they are deadly, and for the first since her two appearances we finally see the deadly Black Widow that comic fans have grown to love in this film. Her fight scenes are deadly and more realistic than her previous appearances, with less bizarre flips, and more ground-based hand to hand combat.

It is also obvious that the kid gloves are off, as this film follows a more adult theme with more emphasizes government espionage, double-crossing, and an all-around mistrust of people. We quickly see that this post-Avengers Captain America grows weary of the new world he has become a part of, and finds it hard to completely adjust to this world when he is finding it hard to trust people. Captain America’s mission to the ship (see in the trailer) has him second guessing who, and what he is fighting for,and for the first time we see him take stock of his new life, while seeing how he is dealing with the 70 year loss of all his friends and his lost love.

We are even given a glimpse of the friendship that formed between Black Widow, and Captain America, which borders brother and sister.

Though this film has taken a much needed serious tone, the humor is not lost on Captain America’s meeting with Sam Wilson. Wilson introduction becomes a much-needed change to Captain America’s world in which everyone’s keeping secrets. Wilson slowly becomes the only true friend he has in the new world, and as the story progresses his chance meeting with Wilson will later be one of his greatest assets. 

As the chaos starts Rogers finds himself taking Fury’s words more and more to heart after he’s attacked at Shield Headquarters. are forced to trust each other as it seems h

Pros:

• The interaction between Natasha and Cap adds a unique take on their friendship which likings to siblings.
• Natasha’s big sister attitude toward Captian America.
• Natasha’s fight scenes look more realistic and natural compared to her first appearance in the first Iron-Man film.

Cons:

Verdict: Hands down the best film Marvel has ever made. See it now, see it twice, and see it in 3D!!!!!!
