Sony Unveils Two New Full Frame Mirrorless Cameras with the A7 and A7R
Sony unveils two new full frame additions to its E-mount family with the A7 and A7R. While many have lamented the lens selection of the E-mount family, the hardware has generally been very good as the A7 and A7R improve upon the previous APS-C sensors in the NEX family. The A7 and A7R both feature similar bodies albeit subtle differences are made apparent through the construction and performance of each camera. Both feature weather-sealed bodies, 2.4 million dot OLED EVF, 14-bit RAW files, Wi-Fi/NFC Control, shutter speeds of up to 1/8000 and an ISO range of 100-25600. The differentiation between the two is as follows with the A7r featuring a 36.4 MP sensor, 25 point contrast AF and 4 fps second shooting while the A7 features a 24 MP sensor with AA filter, 117 point phase-detection AF, 25 point contrast-detection AF and 5fps shooting.
