We review the chaotic Sicario.

In the lawless border area stretching between the U.S. and Mexico, an idealistic FBI agent is enlisted by an elite government task force official to aid in the escalating war against drugs. Led by an enigmatic consultant with a questionable past, the team sets out on a clandestine journey forcing Kate to question everything that she believes in order to survive.

As the film opens, we see FBI agent Kate Macer in all her glory.  We see her lead a team that raids a house in the suburbs outside of Phoenix, Arizona. When they ram the side of the house, they are surprised with only finding a hand full of people inside. While Macer does a sweep of one of the back rooms, she is immediately met with shotgun fire that narrowly misses her as she drops to the ground and takes out the suspect.  It is at this point we meet her partner walks in and as they are puzzled why a lone man in the back of the house would bother shooting.

It is at this point her partner looks at the holes left in the wall and notices something quite odd about them.

Pros:

  • We are just as clueless as the lead, FBI agent Kate Macer,

Cons:

  • The trailer did have us believe this film was about FBI agent Kate Macer, and her going a covert team to stop the spread of violence in the U.S.

Final Verdict: See it for an unforgettable performance from Benicio Del Torro, and join
