On The Set Of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”

A new batch of photos from the set of the Amazing Spider-Man sequel contain no Spider-Men or costumed supervillains. They’re still riveting, though.  Probably because these unofficial images include no shortage of looks at Emma Stone and Shailene Woodley.  Yeah, that captivates just as well as spandex-wearing superheroics.  Better, actually. Returning director Marc Webb is currently overseeing this huge production in order to meet a May 2, 2014 release date. Unlike its immediate predecessor and even all three of Sam Raimi’s webslinging adventures, this reboot sequel is filming exclusively in New York state.  That’s just one of the many choices on The Amazing Spider-Man 2, like shooting on film and casting Paul Giamatti as The Rhino, which suggest that Webb and company are making a smarter sequel.

Stone is back in some wonderfully Steve Ditko wardrobe here.  Based on the variuos images, one of the scenes being filmed apparently finds Spider-Man’s main squeeze meeting future love interest Mary Jane Watson, played by The Descendants  star Woodley.  It looks as though another scene involves Mary Jane tooling away on her porch with a big mallet.  This rebooted Mary Jane rides a motorcycle and, based on the very limited information we have, seems quite deliberately distant from Kirsten Dunst’s character or even Stone’s Gwen Stacy. There is also word that Spider-Man has a more traditional costume featured above.
