Having been 50 years since Bruce McLaren first formed his Formula One team – thus cementing the brand as an elite manufacturer of high-performance automobiles and placing the company at the forefront of performance design – the brand celebrates its legacy with the first of three expected short films. Dubbed “Courage,” the film follows a fictionalized version of the team’s founder and takes his point of view as he walks the Goodwood Circuit in England – retracing his steps to where he crashed on the Lavant Straight just before Woodcote corner and died in his Can-Am car. The video was directed by Swedish director Marcus Söderlund and concludes with a few lines McLaren penned himself on the death of teammate Timmy Mayer: “To do something well is so worthwhile that to die trying to do it better cannot be foolhardy. Indeed, life is not measured in years alone, but in achievement.”
