Glenlivet Limited Edition 1943 Whiskey
Gordon & Macphail are releasing one of the rarest whiskies of all time, a WW2-era 1943 Glenlivet. The whisky comes from a first fill Sherry hogshead cask that was filled on January 14th, 1943 and spent 24 years at Glenlivet and then was transferred to Gordn & Macphail’s warehouses in 1967. The cask was emptied and then bottled on June 11th, 2013, where it went into a hand-blown glass decanter, of which only 42 exist. The flavor profile has been described with a nose of coffee, milk chocolate, wood spices and burnt orange, a palate of treacle and burnt caramel, and a finish of subtle coffee, burnt caramel, Sherry, and stewed fruit.
