Fleming: The Man Who Would be Bond Trailer

Recently BBC America premiered an interesting biographical miniseries Fleming: The Man Who Would be Bond. With Fleming arriving on BBC America at the end of January, a new trailer has been released that will no doubt catch the attention of Bond fans. Based on the trailer’s content. it looks like Fleming is definitely being sold as a kind of budget Bond movie complete with gambling, guns and a Bond girl.The latter is Fleming’s lover and eventual wife, Ann Charteris, who is played by Sherlock’s Irene Adler, Lara Pulver. Fleming did work as an intelligence officer prior to becoming a successful author, and many of the details in his spy novels were based on knowledge he garnered throughout his career. The real Fleming however mainly worked in planning and directing intelligence operations rather than fighting on the front lines. This is seen in the first episode as he repeatedly tries to go undercover himself, but is often fought against.
