Are blondes truly what gentleman prefer? Trues out science says otherwise.

For decades the classic film titled “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” has become a standard saying around the world, but is it really true? After all what can really be said of a gentleman’s taste is that it is all but standard. Granted there are rules every gentleman must follow to be a true gentleman, but when it comes to taste and or a standard of beautiful, this is where the lines can become blurred. For this reason, we at TheLifeStylElite.com have researched the old saying and found results that will shock you. There is just something very seductive about a brunette, whether it’s the dark hair or the dark eyes there is something dangerous, and slightly exotic about them. Blondes are always at the forefront of advertisements, and it is often said that blondes have more fun, but do they really? After all, if you live in an area such as Hollywood it is all to common to see a sea of blonde-haired women, but according to our statistics, most are just dyed blonde. Advertisements my be bleached blond, but history is far different-from Helen Of Troy to Cleopatra, history is full of seductive brunettes so much so that it has spilled into fictional works, and films. Neither Batman nor Superman are immune to brunettes Superman has Louis Lane, and Batman has Selina Kyle (Catwoman). Regardless if they are good, or poisonous relationships brunettes are sexy either way. And it seems men across the world prefer brunettes. But this begs the question ……Why? Well, it turns out its science.

A new study conducted by “Superdrug” discovered that men believe that brunettes make better wives and girlfriends than their blond counterparts. Researchers surveyed 1,000 men and the results showed that 54% would choose a brunette to be their wife, while 16% would prefer to marry golden-haired ladies and another 30% said they had no preference. According to the Telegraph, the study also reveals that men think that dark-haired women are “deeper” and “more sensible” than those with lighter-hair.

They also think that brunettes take more care of their appearance, are great cooks and are better at house work. The real clincher? Men believe that brunettes are more experimental in bed, but when it comes down to what men really find attractive in women, good teeth is more important than hair.  So will more women be dyeing their hair a shade darker to catch a man? Not very likely, says the study. “Our sales tell us that when it comes to hair dye women are more likely to change their shade when they see a celebrity switch shade than any other reason,” a spokesperson for Superdrug says.

In a separate study done in the U.K. in 2011 surveying 2000 men, found that almost a third, said they preferred brunettes. When this study was conducted in other countries such as France, The United States, Spain, Italy, and Brazil, the most preferred hair color was dark colored hair.  So what does this all mean? Psychologists tell us that women who are not naturally born blondes tend to go blonde because they want to stand out. (Case in point Norma Jean, or as the world knew her when she dyed her hair blonde, “Marilyn Monroe”) They succeed, based on the fact that only 10% of the population is actually naturally blonde. In a sea of dark-haired women, a blonde is certainly going to turn heads, but as these studies state, this is not what men want for long term.

Lately, it seems that old stereotypes die hard, because in the recent financial hardships, have seen more blonde women dying their hair dark in order to be perceived as more professional in the office, and thus less likely to be laid off.  Whether it is the sultry eyes, the sway of their hips, or the smile its seems men all over the world can’t get enough of brunettes. This has been proven on our digital pages time, and time again with the over all ever popularity of “featured model“, Christi K.
